The Burlington Hotel, part of the Tifco Hotel Group, has been named “Best Conference Events Venue” at the prestigious Event Industry Awards 2010
At the gala awards ceremony, held at the new Aviva Stadium, judges commended The Burlington Hotel for meeting the award criteria of combining an excellent space with professionalism and consistent delivery of results. The hotel is the largest conferencing hotel in Dublin City Centre and can accommodate up to 1,300 people at a time.
Four out of the five nominees for the “Best Conference Events Venue” award were Tifco Group hotels, and this is the second year a Tifco Group hotel has won this award – Clontarf Castle won in 2009.
“We are delighted to have had Tifco conference venues so well represented in this category,” said Enda O’Meara, Managing Director of Tifco Hotels. “This truly solidifies the Tifco Hotel Group as the number one choice for Conference, Meeting and Event facilities in Ireland.”
The judging panel was chaired by Anna May McHugh, and included industry experts such as Miriam Kennedy, Manager of the Dublin Convention Bureau and Colm Croffy, Executive Director of the Association of Irish Festivals and Events.
“The iconic Burlington plays host to an endless list of high profile conferences and events such as the Irish Film and Television Awards, the IRB Rugby World Cup draw and the Paddy Power Irish Poker Open,” said Anna May McHugh, chair judge and managing director of the National Ploughing Association. “It's a very flexible space, with three main, interlocking spaces that can accommodate any conference requirement.”
John Clifton, General Manager of the Burlington Hotel, was justifiably proud of the award,
“This award is testament to the hard work and professionalism of all of the staff at the Burlington. We have come through one of the most difficult periods for the Business and Conferencing industry and we look forward to continuing to deliver the best possible service to new and long standing clients into the future. There is increasing competition in the market place but we feel confident that the Burlington Hotel offers clients a unique and unrivalled conference venue that proves itself time and time again,” said Clifton.
The Tifco Group operate a portfolio of hotels such as Crowne Plaza Blanchardstown, Crowne Plaza Northwood, Crowne Plaza Dundalk, Clontarf Castle, Parknasilla Resort, Cork International Airport hotel and Holiday Inn Express at both Dublin and Stuttgart Airports. Clontarf Castle Hotel was the founding hotel with the Group when it was purchased in 1973.
In 2010, the Tifco Hotel Group operates as one of Ireland’s Largest Hotel Groups with just over 1,600 bedrooms 66 self catering units and over 3,000 sq meters of conference space and employs almost 1,000 people in Ireland.
